WE EXIST TO IMPROVE OUR REGION’S QUALITY OF LIFE.

Our Mission

We are a catalyst for dynamic job creation that seeks to improve economic growth, mobility and vitality while enhancing the quality of life in our region: Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties.

Accreditation

Our organization is the only Chamber of Commerce in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties to receive the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s 5-Star Accreditation—a level achieved by only 5 percent of chambers across the nation.

Accreditation means you can trust us and the work we do on your behalf. It validates a chamber as having programs that benefit the region it serves, and financial stability to carry us into the future.

Our Rich History

The Harrisburg Regional Chamber was founded in 1884 as the Harrisburg Board of Trade. In 1913, it was decided that the organization should be formally incorporated as a Chamber of Commerce and by 1914 that official designation was given to the organization. CREDC was founded in 1983 and merged with the Chamber in 1994.

Together with our members, we’ve accomplished some pretty amazing things over the last 140 years. Here are just a few:

  • Beautifying Harrisburg through the City Beautiful Movement (1900s)
  • Bringing reliable, modern electricity to the city of Harrisburg (1920s)
  • Building the region’s first airport (Today’s Capital City Airport, 1930s)
  • Converting Olmstead Airforce Base into Harrisburg International Airport (1960s)
  • Forming Penn State Capital Campus (Today’s Penn State Harrisburg, 1960s)
  • Creating the Hershey Center for Applied Research (2000s)
