Pennsylvania Adds Industrial Jobs

Statewide the industrial unemployment rose by 0.5 percent over the past year, however, it dipped by 0.5 percent in the state’s central region. Pennsylvania gained 3,776 manufacturing jobs from June 2011 through June 2012, according to the annual Pennsylvania Manufacturers Register report from Manufacturers News, Inc.. York and Lancaster are ranked third and fourth for metropolitan areas in manufacturing employment, with 22,339 and 17,544 jobs, respectively, the report said. Over the past year, York’s numbers have stayed stable while Lancaster’s dropped by 3.7 percent. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are ranked No. 1 and 2 in the state for manufacturing centers, with 341,996 and 184,419 jobs respectively, according to the report.
