LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO COMPETE IN HARRISBURG REGIONAL CHAMBER & CREDC’s CHAMBER HIGH SCHOOL BUSINESS CHALLENGE

HARRISBURG,PA  – On Thursday, April 24, students from four local high schools will compete in the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC’s 2014 Chamber High School Business Challenge at the BF TechCelerator@Carlisle, 453 Lincoln Street, Carlisle..  The finalists include:

  • Big Spring High School presenting “Color Me Bead”
    • Selena Flood, Larissa Kelso, Michayla Roberts, and Grace Swarner
    • Lori Munson, Advisor
  • Gettysburg Area High School presenting “BackTrack”
    • Ethan Carbaugh, Elias Perez-Zetune, Andrew Riggle, Samuel Walden, and Michael Wilhelm
    • Justine Sieg, Advisor
  • Hershey High School presenting “Soundcheck”
    • Levi Dillon, Matt Fagerstrom, George Porter, and Joanna Seivard
    • Colette Silvestri, Advisor
  • Susquehanna Township High School presenting “Dream Your Dress”
    • Austin Hall, Luis Hernandez, Kenneth Medley, and Arnaud Yougbare
    • Laura Dickson, Advisor

The purpose of the competition is to encourage students to create fictional business plans for companies they wish to develop.  In the preliminary round judged last month, the written plans were evaluated by staff from the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC.  The selected finalists will pitch their proposals to a panel of judges on April 24in front of a live audience.  Scholarship dollars will be awarded to winning team(s).

“The Chamber High School Business Challenge is an awesome opportunity for students and business people to be actively engaged in each other’s worlds,” states Larissa Bailey, Government Relations Manager for the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC and organizer of the Challenge. “Students are able to exercise both creative thinking and critical analysis skills and the business community is able to help mold and shape our industry’s future leaders.”
