SUSQUEHANNA TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TAKE FIRST PLACE AT CHAMBER HIGH SCHOOL BUSINESS CHALLENGE

HARRISBURG, PA – Susquehanna Township High School students clinched first place at the 2014 Chamber High School Business Challenge.  Their business, “Dream Your Dress” is a design business for young, aspiring student designers who provide prom dresses to Dauphin County high school girls.  Team members included Austin Hall, Luis Hernandez, Kenneth Medley, and Arnaud Yougbare.

Also competing were students from Big Spring, Hershey, and Gettysburg High Schools. The event was hosted by the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC at the BF TechCelerator@Carlisle located at 453 Lincoln Street.  This was the sixth year for the competition, whose purpose is to encourage and reward the entrepreneurial spirit among high school students.

“This is Susquehanna’s second year in the competition, and again, the students have surpassed my expectations,” stated Laura Dickson, student advisor. “The process of business concept inception, to written business plan, to pitching the plan in a formal presentation, and the excitement on the student’s faces as they see it come to fruition is priceless.  This competition is a wonderful meeting of teenaged talents and potential.”

Students from Gettysburg Area High School placed second for their business called “BackTrack.”  Two teams tied for third place, and they included Big Spring High School and Hershey High School for their plans “Color Me Bead” and “soundcheck,” respectively.
